According to Lt. George Evans, of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy J. Puhak attempted to stop a blue Ford Focus Thursday driven by Gregory Brock Weiss.

“Luckily no one was injured,” said Evans.

Weiss, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly didn’t stop for the traffic violation and a chase ensued for about seven miles at high speeds through the city of Weldon and down Highway 158 west.  Evans said Weiss turned by Walgreens onto Smith Church Road after Agent A. Harris deflated two tires with stop sticks. He said the vehicle came to a stop near Southgate Drive.

Weiss was charged with speeding to elude arrest, driving while license revoked and failing to stop for blue lights and siren.

Weiss was also charged on two orders stemming from 2008. He was placed under a $16,000 bond and is due in court in Halifax Aug. 17.
