What’s really important

The great debate on the national scene this week is often dominated by Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, one-time vice presidential candidate and the darling of many conservatives.

That’s all fine and good but it has made us wonder what would we learn what could be achieved if we put part of the effort and hard work spent on covering and analyze Palin and her new book, “Going Rogue,” toward more constructive endeavors.

We are not yet a year into the Obama presidency and already the pundits are worried about 2012. Better we worry less about politics and more about straightening out the mess our nation faces.

We have our hands full with the economy, health care, flu pandemics, wars  on terror and a host of other needs.

The last thing we need to do is worry about how Sarah Palin is doing in the polls. Her input as with all Americans is invited to the debate.

But now is the time to make a mark on history and right the ship of state not score points on Oprah.
