Well, thank goodness!  I am told this morning by the people that heard it directly from the Mayor Elect that what he actually said on the talk show (11/18) was that the police and fire department would be the last things that would be done without.  I am so pleased to hear that it was merely a matter of a misunderstanding of what was said by some concerned citizens and NOT yet another politician engaging in political double speak!!  There are certainly a lot of services this town could do without until our time of indebtedness has come to an end, but public safety positions are not optional.
