HRMC

I have heard that HRMC- WOODSIDE PSYCH. UNIT- will be taking Involuntary Committments soon.  I think they need to think long and hard before they do this.  They have our geriatric patients.  Who is going to protect them if the nurses have to constantly keep an eye on IVC patients.  I being a patient myself at the hospital does not feel they have the staff to take patients that have a potential to be violent.   Somebody needs to seriously reconsider before someone gets hurt.

" I hope this is not true, but with our state budget cuts it probably is. Psychiatric Nursing is a very difficult job and it takes specially trained and caring people to care for this type patient. I feel that the state institutions are better equipped and trained to care for this special kind of patient. There may be tragic results in combining potentially dangerous patients with the regular patient population. I know that we all have a breaking point and there is a very thin line between sanity and insanity. The potentially dangerous patients need special care and may not get the care needed at HRMC. "

" I dont know much about involuntary committments but has the staff been properly trained and do they have the staff to take care of these potentially dangerous patients. I have been a visitor at the psychiatiric floor and there is alot of older patients there and if they put a violent patietn up there where are they going to keep the other ones safe at.
I know they need help but there are places that will take these people already. I think it may scared the other people off that need help and are not violent. "

" Just noticed you are a patient. But you still want these people on the streets instead of voluntarily getting off the streets and seeking help whne they knwo they need it? "

" So you would rather have them on the streets and not getting help? Maybe you need another field of work if you work there. "
