i dont understand why kipp has a required reading for 13year olds that exposes teenagers to explicit words and explicit content but claims they are preping students for college. Yes they will be exposed but to a christian family with morals i feel it is the families job to explain these subjects espescially when teachers say just skip over it. A christian student should not be FAILED for not wanting to read non christian and vulgar material. They should be rewarded.

" Please understand that KIPP is a PUBLIC school. They are not a private school. Charter schools are public schools. They are not exempt from state regulations. I wish people would stop thinking they are private. They get the same funding per student that the other local traditional public schools received. They do have additional funding from the KIPP foundation or whatever its called and other non-profit and for profit organization that want to support the school. Good, bad or indifferent, it is still a PUBLIC school. "

" A private school can assign any type of reading list it wishes. It is not mandatory that your child attend KIPP. If you do not want your child exposed to the required reading, then send them to public school. Otherwise, stop whining about a school that has done woderful things for the youth that attend. "
