Their fault

Responding to the idea of no respect for the flag: Blame it on the political leaders and the government … The world is in the shape it is in today because they took prayer out of schools, kids don’t respect the flag and everything is going wrong … Blame it on the political leaders.

Lack of caring?

My daughter is a student at Halifax Community College … Recently walking around the campus we heard a group of students rapping using vulgar language … Apparently management doesn’t care.

Traffic camera

The city could make some extra money by investing some money in a traffic camera at the intersection at the Wal-Mart light. They could give out citations to all the people who keep making a left turn from the right lane … or they could put a police officer out there and he could write all the tickets he wants.

Cops needed

I see more and more cars running stop signs … Where are the cops?

" Where are the cops? Lets see while your sleeping they are riding around trying to be everywhere at once so your house or car doesn't get broke into, sitting with an involuntary committment at the hospital, arresting a felon with a firearm or a drug dealer, or maybe they had to take a bathroom or lunch break! Who can afford to sit a cop in one spot by Walmart to write a ticket for something that grown licensed individuals should know better than to do it in the first place. Please gripe about something that matters! "

" Just how would they go about enforcing those policies without the willingness of the student body to support them? Are they prepared to toss out everyone who listens to rap? I'm guessing "Lack of Caring?" didn't bother to complain to a college official about this either. "

" Chill out, most people are still getting use to the light at walmart.

And if you havn't noticed there has been a lack of jobs latly, cops included.

The kids rapping arent picking on your music dont pick on theirs. FREEDOM OF SPEACH! "

" Management at HCC absolutely CAN do something about it. Read the student handbook lately? I never attended HCC, but knew without looking that there is an enforceable student conduct policy at just about every legitimate college and university. I just checked online.

Reference page 19: "All college regulations must be observed. Students may be reprimanded, suspended, or dismissed from the College for conduct, which is considered incompatible with good judgment while on campus and/or participating in college-sponsored activities, either on or off campus."

The 14th violation is listed as, "Indecent, lewd, disorderly, or obscene conduct or expression."

    The 15th is, "Profanity." "

" I got pulled over like 2 months ago for turning left in the far lane by Wal-mart, at th corner of Waffle House. I see A LOT of people still turning left, and I NEVER see anyone else getting pulled! Maybe when someone turning left in the wrong lane creams someone else, something will be done. I doubt it though! "

" It's not that the management of HCC doesn't care about the vulgarity. It's that the management at HCC can't do anything about it.

Change of appearance (sagging), change of speech patterns, change of behavior from these young people MUST come from withing their own society. Neither you, I, nor the administration of the college can do about it if MOST of the student population is using vulgarity.

It's my strong belief that Dr. Griffin is not only aware of this problem, but that he is actively trying to turn things around. PRIDE! "
