If you aren’t registered to vote shame on you. It’s time you did. The next election will decide who represents us in Congress and will fill a plethora of local offices.
And after you have taken care of the electoral process, we suggest you take the next step — participate.
Attend a city or town council meeting. Join in the debate at the school board. Learn firsthand what your government is doing and then speak your mind. Let your elected officials know how you feel and not just through the Sound off! line.
Meet them face to face, ask questions, get answers and offer your two-cents worth. That is what democracy is all about.
Our Founding Fathers never envisioned a quiet nation. We were born in the struggle for individualism and independence. If you seek to keep the American vision alive and bright, join in the day-to-day practice of citizen government.
Take the time to vote, then participate in helping government run right.
That is the true role of the citizen. We are not simply a rubber stamp.
