Elsie ‘Polly’ Dickens Floyd

WAKE FOREST — Elsie “Polly” Dickens Floyd, 79, of 1419 South Main St., Wake Forest, formerly of Aurelian Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Wake Medical Center.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and very determined and strong willed. She attended Aurelian Springs School and loved gardening and farming.

She was the daughter of the late W.C. Dickens and Elsie Crawley Dickens. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Teddy, Russell Lee and Fletcher, Milton and Algier Dickens; her sister, Patty Dickens; and half-brothers, Judge and Willis Dickens.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ronnie Floyd of Wake Forest; her daughters, Sylvia Keilberg and family of Texas and Tiffany Floyd of the home.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m., at the Floyd Family Cemetery in Aurelian Springs.

Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen VA 23058-5216.
