Elizabeth G. ‘Betty’ Mooring

ROANOKE RAPIDS — Elizabeth G. “Betty” Mooring, 82, of 1011 Wilson St., Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late Oliver Silva and Regina Deynzer Peterson. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Mooring was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Mooring and; and one brother, Ernie Silva.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph G. Mooring II and his wife, Elizabeth, of San Ramon, Calif., and Robert L. Mooring of Vallejo, Calif.; one daughter, Karen Mooring of the home; one brother, O.H. Silva of Warminster, Pa.; one sister, JoAnna Svendsen and her husband, Ralph, of Williamstown-Ontario, Canada; and three grandchildren, Madeline and Olivia Mooring of San Ramon and Jacob Harris of Roanoke Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, at All Saints Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Marjorie Holm officiating. Services will conclude at the Columbarium of All Saints Church.

The family will receive friends immediately following services in the Parrish Hall of the church.

Memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Guild, c/o All Saints Episcopal Church, 635 Hamilton St., Roanoke Rapids NC. 27870 or to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 801 N. Randolph St., Arlington VA 22203-1978.

Wrenn, Clarke, & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements.
