GASTON — Elizabeth Turner Drake Arp, 84, of 215 Gate St., Gaston, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

She attended First Baptist Church in Gaston, and was retired from J.P. Stevens after 15 years of service. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her flowers and her garden and always shared her garden with her neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Drake and Nannie Pender Drake; her husband, Willie Arp; and a brother, John Lee Drake

She is survived by her children, James Edward Arp and his wife, Faye, of Ogden, Kan., Doris Harris and her husband, Tom, of Littleton, Roy Arp and his wife, Diane, Johnnie Arp and Hilda Arp-Sanguillen and her husband, Albert, all of Roanoke Rapids, and Carlton Arp of Gaston; her brothers, James Ray Drake of Tarboro and Justa Drake of Rocky Mount; her sister, Catherine Crisp of Nashville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Tim Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
