ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mrs. Marilyn Geraldine Moore, the daughter of the late Solomon Huff and Lillie Mae Sledge-Huff, was born April 28, 1937, in Roanoke Rapids, Halifax County, and reared in the Lincoln Heights Community.

Marilyn received her education through the Halifax County Public School system. She was employed in her early years of life at Rosemary Restaurant and later at Hampton Inn, both of Roanoke Rapids. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people. Marilyn was a kind and very free-hearted person. She had a quiet and loving spirit.

Marilyn was united in holy matrimony to the late Wilroy Moore. She is reunited with her parents; her sisters, Sandra, Dorothy and Mittie; and her brothers, Willie, Harold and Kenneth.

She leaves not to mourn, but to cherish her fondest memories two daughters, Sharon Ivey (Leon) of Garysburg and Karen Lashley (Calvin) of Roanoke Rapids; three sons, Morris Moore (Jennifer) and Anthony Huff (LaTrese), both of Roanoke Rapids, and Gordon Moore (Paula) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one special niece and nephew whom she raised as her own, Maryland France (Billy) of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Carl Huff (MiMi) of Fort Washington, Md.; two nieces, Jackie Minggia (William) of Roanoke Rapids and Anna Lashley of Brooklyn; two nephews, Kenneth Wayne High of Gaston and Perry Freeman (Yvonne) of Albany, N.Y.; one aunt, Marjorie Sledge of Weldon,and one uncle, James Sledge of Roanoke Rapids; one brother-in-law, Gordon Earl Banks of Brooklyn; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; five great-nieces, four great-nephews, five great-great-nephews and two great-great-nieces; her devoted cousins, Jerome and Cathy Adkins and Gayla Sledge; special friends, Josephine Thorne, Esselene Smith, Ruth Johnson, Gracey Godley, Tina Sledge and Linda Sneed; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, in the chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at First Baptist Church Hodgestown in Roanoke Rapids, with the Rev. Tyrone Squire officiating.  Interment will follow in the Huff Family Cemetery in Henrico.
