WELDON — Mrs. Dorothy Webb Pittman, 83, of Weldon, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Pittman was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Pinetops, the daughter of the late Walter Webb and Jerusha Kennedy Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace Martin Pittman.

Survivors include her daughter, Janie Medlin of Roanoke Rapids; her son, Duke Pittman of Halifax;  two sisters, Carolyn Pittman of Efland and Faye Gardner of Halifax; her brother, Pete Webb of Efland;  three grandchildren, Stephanie Amos and her husband, Curt, Shelly Strickland and her husband, Michael, and Justin Medlin; and four great-grandchildren, Payton Amos, Harli Amos, Jordan Strickland and Ayden Medlin.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Oct. 15, at Whitakers Chapel Cemetery near Enfield, with the Rev. Chuck Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the graveside service, at Massey Funeral Home in Enfield, which is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Whitaker’s Chapel, P.O. Box 344, Enfield NC 27823.
